After the Burnside mural and tiled steps drew a warm response from the neighborhood, Glen Park Beautiful asked the Glen Park Library to invite residents to write poems about the area, and library staff agreed. With Valentine's Day approaching, they set aside all of February and March 2025 for submissions and designed a card titled "I Lift My Heart in Glen Park" to collect entries. More than 20 poems came in, from children, teenagers, and adults, in several languages and some with drawings; they described village-like living in Glen Park, neighborly kindness, morning dew in the canyon, friendship, and, from people who had moved away, nostalgia. The library worked with the Glen Park Recreation Center to create a permanent exhibition of the poems, and several are displayed at the Burnside Tiled Steps. Staff repeated the project in February 2026.
